Kodak Review Z710 - Digital Image Capture, Kodak Review Z710

Digital cameras are becoming more popular than their 35mm film predecessors and are also overtaking their old counterparts in terms of the quality of the pictures they can capture. As the technology is becoming more mainstream, the devices are becoming more affordable. There are varying models of cameras available however the Kodak Z710 has features and affordability that stand out .

If you are someone who takes many pictures, a digital camera takes away the hassle of storing your photo’s on 35 mm film. By storing the photos you take directly into a digital camera’s memory, you save money as you do not have to buy more film when you run out of space. You can plug this memory into your pc and transfer the digital images to it and then use the memory again. The Kodak Z710 has 32mb of memory so there is plenty of space available for you to keep taking photos while you’re on the go. Should you need more space for any reason, the camera has an expansion slot to accommodate more memory.

An age old problem when photographing friends, family or other people is ‘Red Eye’ which is pretty much explained in its term. You can buy digital cameras that can help with this age old problem. When taking photographs of people (especially in dark conditions), Red Eye can show up on photos taken of people regularly. The Z710 has a feature to digitally reduce the Red Eye effect of friends in your photographs.

When buying a digital camera, look out for its colour capabilities so you have more options when you take your photos. Now it is possible to have one camera that has the ability to capture your images in high colour, low colour, natural colour and even black and white. If you need to capture pictures rapidly in succession, look for how many fps (frames per second) your digital camera is able to capture images. The Kodak Z710 has all of these features.

The resolution of digital camera also varies from model to model and is determined by the type of sensor it has. The sensors on digital cameras are generally ’Charged Coupled Devices’ or CCD’s for short. An example of the variation is the Kodak Z650 which has a CCD resolution of 6.36 mega pixels while the Kodak Z710 CCD can capture images at a resolution of over 7 mega pixels.

Kodak CX7300 Digital Camera

Quality digital cameras are becoming affordable for just about everyone these days. Kodak's entry into the low cost end of the market is their CX7300 3.2 mega pixel model. You just may be surprised at what a terrific value it is. Please read on.

As recently as two years ago, if you were shopping for a 3.0 mega pixel or greater camera, you would have paid approximately $249. for one. Today, prices have tumbled and it isn't uncommon to find cameras in this category going for $150 or less. Recents sale prices I have observed have brought this price down further with one retailer selling the Kodak CX7300 for just under $100.

As you may know a 3.0 meg camera is ideal if you are taking pictures to post online. Anything greater isn't necessary, so there is no need to expend the extra bucks for a 5.0, 6.0, or even 7.0 meg camera.

This particular Kodak model is no bare bones model either. Top features include:

3.2 million pixels

3x digital zoom

1.6" color display

Red eye reduction

Self timer

Color modes

Multiple scene modes

Movie mode

16 MB internal memory

Easy Share software

The CX7300 is easy to use and picture quality is very good. Kodak also markets this model camera as a C300, so shop around and see what your retailer is offering.

Digital Camera Ratings - Kodak EasyShare V803

When doing a digital camera rating it is becoming more and more common to have to rate the camera as a fashion accessory as well as a photographic device. Such is the case with the Kodak EasyShare V803 which comes in eight bright colors including Pink Bliss, Red Shimmer, Cosmic Blue, Mystic Purple, Golden Dream, White Glaze, Silver Essence and Midnight Black and provides you with standard features for point and shoot at a price tag in the $200 range. Beyond the basic features, the V803 has an amazing sensitivity range rising to 1600 ISO and will track and store frequently used settings. The camera is petite so it's transported easily, although it isn't the slimmest camera around. One other problem is the uncovered port which renders the camera vulnerable to lint and debris.

When defining the digital camera ratings for color performance, the EasyShare V803 falls well below the rest of the 2007 models. Faces will tend to appear greenish and skies will be an unnatural shade of blue. Only in the reds and purples are the colors fairly accurate. The EasyShareV803 performed within acceptable range for resolution, but was poor in the test for noise level, both at manual setting and auto settings. The V803 performed very poorly on the white balance settings, both on the auto setting and even more dismally on the presets. This results in a bluish cast to most pictures which is fine if you want to look like you take all pictures underwater. Color accuracy improves slightly as lights are dimmed.

The Kodak EasyShare V803 Digital Camera ratings for low light video conditions are dismal. At 30 lux, which is approximately the level of a low illumination night club, or a bowling alley, you would not be able to get recognizable pictures.

The components of the EasyShare don't measure up very well in digital camera ratings either. There is no viewfinder which is a growing trend amongst this type of camera. The display screen is used as a preview option. The flash attachment is totally ineffective both in range and in brightness. The zoom lens has some nice features, such as the ability to capture group shots, but the mechanical part of the zoom is so loud it is audible in video shots. The V803 does not feature image stabilization which is a nice touch in the 3x zooms.
